Detailed Itinerary

The night before: Picked up at your hotel in Hanoi at 8.30, leave Hanoi in the evening on the overnight train for Lao Cai.

Day 1: Lao Cai – Sapa (B, L)

Upon arrival at Lao Cai Station, our guide and drive pick you up and transfer to Sapa. Check in at the hotel in Sapa, have shower and breakfast then free to wander around to se the little beautiful Sapa Town. In the afternoon, take a short trek to nearby Cat Cat valley crossing some H’mong villages along the way. Later take a drive to the Red Dao village of Ta Phin nestled in a picturesque valley. Back to the hotel refresh for the trek of the next day. Overnight in Sapa town.

Day 2: Sapa - Lao Chai - Ta van - Thanh Phu (B, L, D)

Trekking distance: 20 km
This morning we take drive of 7 km to Lao Chai, leave the car starting trekking downhill to Lao Chai, the village of Black H’mong people. We then continue to trek for 2 hours to visit the Dzay ethnic minority at Ta Van where the jeep will be waiting for you and will take you 12km ahead. Enjoy the picturesque scenery along the way and diverse ethnic minorities. We then drop off and trek to Thanh Phu; the most beautiful valley where Tay hosts will welcome you to their home on stilt. Dinner and overnight in Thanh Phu with your hospitable Tay hosts.

Day 3: Thanh Phu - Xa Pho - Nam Toong - Ban Ho (B, L, D)

Trekking distance: 20 km
Your hosts will get up very early to prepare breakfast for you. After breakfast we trek to the village of the Xa Pho tribe, the smallest ethnic group in Sapa who have very little contact with modern Vietnam and speak very little Vietnamese. We continue to trek up to Namtoong, to visit the Nam Ken Village of Red Dzao chat with villagers then leave for Ban Ho where we stay overnight.

Day 4: Ban ho-Su pan-Sapa (B, L)

Trekking distance: 5 km
Enjoy a morning exploring the village or go swimming at the Lavie Waterfall. Walk uphill to your jeep then transfer back to Sapa. Free in Sapa until transferred to Lao Cai Station for the overnight train back to Hanoi.

Day 5: Hanoi Arrival

Arrive in Hanoi at about 5.PM. Take a taxi back to your hotel. A taxi from the station to hotel in the old quarter usually cost 50 000VND. Tour ends
